Cricket Brings Life To Me...
Hi Everyone,
I am Sanjeewa Weerasinghe and I would like to briefly share my Cricketing Life with you. I was born in a Cricketing Nation called Sri Lanka or Ceylon as you may know. I started playing Cricket at the age of 6-7 years. Since then my life revolved around this 'Amazing Sport'. I decided to publish this blog to share my Cricketing Career with people who love to watch me play, my friends who helped me to become who I am and especially to my family who does countless sacrifices for the love of my game.
My Profesional Cricketing Career Began soon after I was invited by Nondescript Cricket Club in 1987 to represent 1st class Cricket Tournaments, NCC is a Premier Club in Sri Lanka. Many of Sri Lankan National Team players like Kumar Sangakkara, Lasith Malinga, Aravinda De Silva, Hashan Thilakaratne, Russel Arnold, Ranjan Madugalle were few names of players whom I shared this Great sport with. I got selected to Sri Lanka National Squad 1989.
I played 1st Class Cricket in Sri Lanka up until 2007. Also I Captained NCC for Several Important Tournaments. The highest (1st wicket) partnership Club Record of 233 runs I share with Russel Arnold todate.
I became a Level II Australia qualified Cricket Coach in 2006 and also was a Domestic Cricket Match Referee in first class Cricket for Sri Lanka Cricket Board selected by ICC in 2009
After seeing Indoor Cricket in Australia I was very keen in starting Indoor Cricket in Sri Lanka. I am proud to say that I was one of the founder members of Sri Lanka Indoor Cricket Association since 2001. I was the Captain / Coach in Sri Lanka Indoor Cricket Team in 2004/5, I represented Sri Lanka until 2009. Also I was one of the Executive Commitee Members and a World body member in Indoor Cricket from 2001 to 2007.
Since I moved to USA in 2010 I was bit distant with Cricket but my passion never faded. I currently play for Cougars Club in Highland, California and have scored 435 runs with an Average of 87 runs in 6 matches with one century and three fifties.
So its safe to say that Cricket brings Life to me....
Thanks for keeping me in your prayers!
